Cigar Lounge Talk

 Much of the recent conversation by the “cigar smokers” who gather in the Cigar Lounge to enjoy a cigar and talk has been about the election of Scott Brown.  Maybe it will help if the American people have a  “fresh face” from time to time in elected positions that carry a lot of “political power.”  Another “Camelot” would not hurt,  an era brought in by the election of JFK when Americans felt a complete uplifting from the same old same old.  Only time will tell what Senator Brown’s election means but hopefully it will benefit everyone.

 Another subject on the table has been the action taken by many banks with regard to credit cards.  Regardless of how good your credit is, many banks have reduced credit lines and increased interest rates. At a time when many financial institutions received help from the Federal Government to turn around and take buying power from the “middle man” and make them pay more for it seems unnecessary.  Every time there is a Presidential election, the talk always comes up around to how the poor and middle classes are getting the short end of the stick.  Another one of the frequent conversations that will go no where because all we can do is talk.

When Do We Get Our Cubans??

Why is it that cigar lovers in this country still can't buy Cuban cigars? We know that Fidel has turned authority over to his brother who seems to be in a mood to make a change and the U.S. Congress seems to have the votes to eliminate most if not all of the components of the embargo on Cuba. President Obama was outspoken during the election campaign that he wants to turn the page on U.S.-Cuban relations! So let's do it. When do I get my Cubans? That is some of the talk in The Cigar Lounge.

New Regulations and Taxes

Many of our cigar smokers meet, have a cigar and discuss the days events. Many of our discussions deal with the new regulations and the new taxes that have been imposed upon  smokers. The FDA is on the way and has been the subject of much discussion by our cigar smokers. While we have been furnished an overall outline of the proposed regulatory change, specific details have yet to be spelled out. As you can imagine, this topic has been on the agenda at many of our discussions. As more information becomes available, we will keep you advised.
